Recapturing the spirit of worship

The Mises Circle announces an upcoming renewal service in Seattle, entitled “Capitalism the Creator.”

The Mises Circle goes to Seattle to address contemporary issues in liberty, and the role of Capitalism as the main Force for every form of progress in our age. We live amidst its fruits—technology, culture, philanthropy, human well being—and have yet to appreciate the Source. Indeed, among the most passionate opponents of the Free Market are those who have benefited most enormously from it. Here we have a profound failure of understanding at work.

  1. How is it worship to observe that an institutional structure that permit freedom is basis for the creation of wealth and technological progress?

And by the way, I notice that you capital Source. You added that. It is not in the original. Not an effective way to make a point!

  2. Jeffrey,

How is it worship to observe that an institutional structure that permit freedom is basis for the creation of wealth and technological progress?

If that is the goal of the seminar, then it isn’t worship. But the title of Lew Rockwell’s talk, “Everything You Love You Owe to Capitalism,” indicates that the seminar will be more enthusiastic about capitalism than you suggest.

And by the way, I notice that you capital Source. You added that. It is not in the original.

Hmm. I have to get better at covering my tracks.

Not an effective way to make a point!

Don’t you think its effectiveness depends on the point I was trying to make?

  3. Wondering if Jeffery is Jeffery Tucker.

I am a bit confused on some of the differences between Distributism and Libertarianism in regards to views on free markets and capitalism. Certainly there must be common ground, primarily freedom to do as we please and property rights I would think.
