Chris sings lead here, on the first song Flatt & Scruggs recorded as a band after leaving Bill Monroe.
The experimental part is the low harmony that I sing. Chris’s voice is pitched higher than mine, meaning that when he sings lead in a natural part of his range I can’t sing harmony above him. So the harmony here is not the normal tenor line, and the harmony doesn’t add that extra fire that comes from a higher part kicking in. We haven’t decided whether we like it or not.
