Elk

For about eighteen months in 2000-1 we lived up in the Colorado Rockies at 9000 feet, about twenty miles west of Pikes Peak. It was a half hour drive to Woodland Park, the closest town with services of any significance. I drove that road quite often, and I tried to always remember my fairly new digital camera just in case. That paid off spectacularly one day, when I had to stop the car and wait for a herd of elk to cross. (Click on photos for larger images.)
